This Practice Group begins with a "remembering" for inspiration, centering and connecting with ourselves. This is followed by a "check-in" when we share how we are, what we bring with us or what we hope to receive during the session. Activities include: short education exercises, empathy, role-plays, games and discussions. Participants can facilitate the group with prior arrangement with Rodger Sorrow

This 8-week course:
* Presents Dr. Marshall Rosenberg’s Nonviolent CommunicationSM (NVC)
* Introduces you to the steps of the NVC process for use in expressing yourself, listening to others and listening compassionately to yourself
* Will give you sufficient information and skill to start using NVC in your daily life
* Is run in an experiential style working with examples from participants’ lives
* Is challenging, moving, supportive and fun

This course is for those beginning or those wishing to gain fuller grounding in NVC.

Listen deeply

A monthly class based on the principals of NVC as applied to parenting. This group meets on Sept 10, Oct 1, Nov 5 and Dec 3 for the remainder of 2008. This is an on-going group and new participants are warmly welcomed. Integration of NVC into daily life is a focus as well as a compassionate, supportive atmosphere. Join us for a night away from home each month where you can enjoy the company of other parents, have fun and return home with new skills to support you and your family.

FEE REQUEST: $20/session or $60/4 sessions prepaid. No one turned away due to lack of funds -- work exchange and barter welcome.  | TIME: 7:15 pm - 9:30 pm one Friday each month, including April 11, May 16, and June 27, 2008 (contact Jeff for future dates) | DESCRIPTION: Most sessions will use the following format: a brief presentation of a particular NVC skill, followed by practice exercises and role playing real situations. Empathy and self-empathy are common themes, as well as compassionate honesty, gratitude, celebrating and mourning. We will cover the basics of Nonviolent Communication.  We will explore what needs get met by using alcohol and drugs and what needs do not get met.  Participants will discover how to transform this pattern in a way that meets more needs.  The motivation for this change comes not out of shame, guilt, anger or depression, but out of the genuine desire to contribute to our own and other's well being.
