Why belong to an international NVC network?

Eva & Anne

What has it been like for your to work on building an international network?
Anne: “My experience so far has been mainly in the French-speaking world. I celebrate the quality of relationship we have been able to create among us, even though there have been challenges, tensions and fears. My dream is to see us slowly but surely live the kind of connections we long for, where we show solidarity, compassion and
trust to one another and where teams exchange support, inspiration and learning..."
Eva: “I feel incredibly excited about the fun, connection, depth, challenge, and learning I have experienced traveling around the world offering NVC in at least 30 different countries. Even if it takes time, energy and causes a lot of problems, I see many advantages to international NVC connections. I so much would like to have more and more people aware of this!"
What are some of the benefits you see of belonging to an international network like CNVC?
1. Clarity: We can discover those who share the same dream and are working on making it become real. We can also see the world from different perspectives.
2. Strength: We can experience the joy of giving to people with whom we share the same values and who are living far from us, for example, to sustain projects. We enhance the chance of maintaining the integrity of the NVC process and to stay in a true NVC spirit. As more people practice NVC, there is less chance for any of us to skid.
3. Belonging: We can cultivate a sense of belonging to something bigger, especially for those coming from remote places or small countries. We can experience togetherness and solidarity beyond borders, enjoying the community of an increasing number of NVC practitioners.
4.Support: We can give support to one another because of the different kinds of experiences arising from local realities and opportunities. In asking for and receiving support, sometimes it is easier to connect with compassion to those with less involvement in our day-to-day life. For example, teams with conflicts can be helped by mediators from another place or team. Since they have less direct involvement in the conflict, they may be able to build empathic connection and help more effectively.
5.Learning: We can share our know-how, our successes and our difficulties. We have a huge opportunity to learn from our differences and to enrich ourselves from them. We are learning to live together the kind of relationships, respect and compassion that we are dreaming of. We can find the partners and allies willing to play with us a game beyond rightness and wrongness.
6.Effective use of time and energy: We can avoid the wasted resources of “reinventing the wheel” in each place. Documents, templates and other resources can be translated, adapted and shared.
